ENERGY needs assessment and prediction for Breast Cancer patients
Adequate nutrition plays a fundamental role in supporting treatment and improving the prognosis of women with breast cancer. Our research group seeks to investigate, for the first time in Brazil, the real energy needs of these patients at different stages of cancer treatment. Using assessment methods such as indirect calorimetry and body composition analysis, we intend to develop and validate new predictive equations for calculating caloric needs.
In addition, the project includes the development of a mobile application that will allow for personalized calculation of energy needs, offering specific nutritional guidance for each phase of treatment. The results may support new nutritional guidelines, contributing to improving the quality of life and providing more precise nutritional care to women with breast cancer.
